JANUARY 1943

Tyrone Power became a Leatherneck on August 24. He enslisted as a private in the volunteer Marine Corps Reserves in Washington, D.C., and was granted two months deferment of active duty so that the film about the big submarine base in New London, Conn., could be completed. His Marines training will be at Camp Elliott, San Diego, and after that is over he intends to apply for glider pilot training.

Crash Dive is the name of the new film, and the title refers to the emergency plunges submarines take when danger threatens. Power went through the whole course of training for escape through hatches in the 50 foot crash dives in one of our submarines. This is the first film to be made about our submarine service of today and should be of special interest in that little known details of life in the submarine service will be shown.
